The
Annual Pickens Azalea Festival was a rousing success as we
celebrated 26th years. Highlights of the
festival were the “Extraordinaires” Friday night. The 5th
Annual Classic Car Cruise broke all records with over 300 plus
cruisers participating.
Music by our local entertainers at Legacy Square on Saturday with
bands playing on three stages on Saturday.
THANK YOU to everyone who came as we their was perfect weather for
the two day event. Saturday over 200 crafters, food vendors, and
civic non –profit organizations participated
Highlights Saturday was the kick off of the The 4rd Annual 5K
walk/run presented by the Pickens Women’s Association. 3nd Annual
Chili Cook Off presented by Pickens County Meals On Wheels. The
Richard Childress Racing Dale Earnhardt #3 car and Military
History Club of the Carolina’s Exhibit.
“The Fantastic Shakers” rocked the crowd Saturday night, which
wrapped up a successful weekend.
We
thank our many sponsors for helping to make the 2010 Azalea
Festival a reality. We deeply appreciate their financial
sponsorship of this important community event. A good time was
truly had by ALL!
Thanks to the City of Pickens, Police Department and Streets &
Sanitation workers for their assistance. They are a hard working
group of dedicated City employees who helped make the festival
possible. Thanks to the Pickens Chamber of Commerce and volunteers
from the Pickens Senior Citizens Center. To The Azalea Festival
Planning Committee and those individuals who work for months to
create the festival each year. Their ideas and input keep making
the Azalea Festival bigger and better each year.
Mark your calendars for next
year – third weekend in April (15-16) for the 2011, 27th Pickens
Azalea Festival with new activities, attractions and delights. We
look forward to seeing you then!
